Époisses is a historic village surrounded by fields and other medieval villages. It was here that production of the famous Epoisses Berthaut cheese began, a cheese that was recently named the best in the world.
The house has all amenities: 3 showers, 2 toilets, a spacious kitchen, a spacious dining room, a comfortable living room with TV, fibre-optic Wi-Fi, a washing machine and tumble dryer.
In the village itself, you'll find a bakery, a butcher's shop, a supermarket, a restaurant, a café, as well as a tennis court and an outdoor swimming pool.
The Château d'Époisses is just down the road. Époisses cheese is sold in the small square behind the house. The house is the starting point for wonderful walks and cycle rides. Semur-en-Auxois ("worth a visit" according to the Michelin guide) is a 20-minute drive away. There is also the Lac du Pont with its beach and water sports facilities.
Nearby, you'll find the Morvan regional park, ideal for walking and cycling; the fortified medieval town of Avallon; the Vézélay basilica; the Pré Lamy golf course; the Auxois wildlife park; the Gallic village of Alesia; the Bibracte archaeological site and the Montbard railway station (1 hour by train to Paris), as well as the Canal de Bourgogne for cycling. Dijon and Beaune are an hour's drive away.
