The "In the footsteps of the artists who sketched the town" trail invites you to discover Semur-en-Auxois through the prism of art, following the river and strolling through the historic centre.
There are two loops to choose from: one is around 3km long and follows the meandering course of the Armançon; the other is a kilometre long and takes you on a tour of the cobbled streets of the town centre through some never-before-seen works of art.
From André Maire's drawings to old postcards and contemporary urban views, the walk will take you on a journey through the picturesque medieval town from past to present day.
Will you recognise the different places depicted on the canvases?
This walk is for anyone curious about discovering or rediscovering the city from the original and unusual angle of art.
We recommend that you wear shoes suitable for walking.
The 3-kilometre loop is not suitable for people with reduced mobility, as the pavements are not wide enough and some sections of the circuit are more technical.
