Centre culturel ARCADE/Château de Sainte Colombe en Auxois

Founded in 1986 to safeguard the Château de Sainte-Colombe-en-Auxois, the ARCADE association achieved its first objective in 1991 with the inclusion of the building in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments.
Determined to pursue its action, ARCADE chose to develop a cultural and tourist project on the site of the château, within the 17th and 18th century buildings, and confirmed its positioning by adopting the baseline "Design in the countryside®". ARCADE thus proposes a strong political, social and cultural commitment: to be a place of diffusion and contemporary creation in design and crafts, in a rural environment.

For the coming years, ARCADE Design à la campagne® has chosen to pursue the following objectives:
> the creation of a research dimension in design, in connection with the territory, around a transversal reflection on the issues and the socio-ecological impacts of our society,
> the establishment of a project incubator to promote the relationship between jobs and employment between designers, companies and local authorities,
> the development of the singularity of the educational offer through the artistic and cultural education programmes,
> the continuation of the enhancement of the heritage of the Château de Sainte-Colombe-en-Auxois (Historic Monument), a setting and support for the activities.

Provoking encounters, generating resources, guaranteeing sharing and transmission, accompanying projects, structuring networks, encouraging experimentation, welcoming people and activities, promoting know-how, encouraging cooperation, affirming solidarity values, respecting the living, integrating crucial societal issues, defending a position: this is how ARCADE wishes to organise its project to achieve its objectives within a true third place.

A permanent work can be seen at the Château de Sainte-Colombe-en-Auxois, by Bertrand Lavier, representing a detail of the Piazza San Marco in Venice. As part of the New Sponsors initiative supported by the Fondation de France, the Consortium de Dijon brought together ARCADE and the artist Bertrand Lavier to create a permanent work at the Château de Sainte-Colombe-en-Auxois; the work, which was inaugurated in June 2012, is based on the concept of the crossroads of influences.
