A walk in the heart of nature, yet so close to the city
This 8km route takes you through the six chaumes (hills) on the left bank of the River Armançon. The trail around the town and the meander of the river will provide you with unparalleled vantage points and amazing views, allowing you to capture all the architectural beauty of Semur in its natural setting.

The motto of Semur still rings true!
Can you find the motto proudly displayed by the town ‘Les Semurois se plaisent fort en l'accointance des estrangers’ ? In other words, the people of Semur have a great sense of welcome, and to prove it they emblazoned it on the Porte Guillier when the 1st tourist office was launched in 1903.
It's an extract from a text written in 1575, but the signature is not exact! The author is in fact François de Belleforest (a text from the Cosmographie Universelle, published in 1574). Today, by extension, this phrase has become the motto of Semur.
