Velogny is a small village of 32 souls perched at an altitude of 498 metres and situated a few kilometres from Vitteaux.
It is a village in the middle of nature, clinging to its hill.
On foot or by bike, you can rest on the stone benches to picnic or contemplate the meadows of the Auxois.
Close by, a Celtic cross offers an unobstructed view of the commune of Vitteaux. As you go down towards the village, a virgin watches over the roadside.
Next to it is the church of Saint-Nicolas, a small building still surrounded by its cemetery overlooking Velogny.
The village also has a private 19th century castle surrounded by its outbuildings. Formerly the home of the Bossuet family, it was bought by General Mazillier in August 1822. The mother of Bossuet was born there.
Near this castle stands a surprising conical cross from the 19th century bearing a curious phrase: "O cross, our only hope in this world and in the next".
